Creating a Greener Future

By trovecannabis | | About Trove

It’s no surprise that we’re big fans of green things. From the dankest strains of weed to the beautiful evergreen forests of the Pacific Northwest, we love it all. But today, we want to talk to you about that second part: the breathtaking nature that surrounds us and Trove’s commitment to keeping it green.

Now we know it’s not news that the legal cannabis and hemp industries are pioneers in combating climate change. Whether its new technologies like hempcrete for construction and insulation or its proven long-standing uses as biofuel, bioplastic, paper, textiles, food, and animal feed, cannabis and hemp are industrial game-changers.

For instance, using hemp-based paper would reduce the deforestation and pollution associated with traditional paper. Biofuel derived from hemp would reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. Hemp fibers are so strong that they can be used in high-quality plastics, building materials, fabrics, and plenty of other industrial and consumer applications. Adding hemp to the supply and resource chains alone won’t be enough to combat climate change, but it certainly is a step in the right direction.

We here at Trove Cannabis and Trove Coffee are committed to taking as many steps as we can for the sake of sustainability and keeping our communities healthy. Some of them include our participation in Washington’s Adopt-a-Highway program (we’re taking care of a stretch of I-5 right off the Samish Way exit) as well as One Tree Planted; for every ounce of cannabis flower we sell, we’ll plant another tree to regrow deforested areas. Our coffee lounge next door remains committed to sustainability as well, sourcing ingredients locally to minimize our supply chain’s carbon footprint while using as many green and recyclable packaging materials as possible.

While climate change might be scary, we know that human ingenuity and the willpower of those fighting for sustainability will help reverse our planet’s course. Even if climate change wasn’t a factor, Trove remains committed to the good stewardship of the environment. Regardless of how a person feels about this looming ecological crisis, why shouldn’t we take care of our planet and leave it better than we found it? To us, it’s a no-brainer. We just want to keep Washington’s forests green, have clean water to drink, and clean air to breathe.

If you’d like to learn more about our commitments to sustainability, you can find more at either Trove Cannabis or Trove Coffee or just contact us directly. If you’d like to share any cool sustainable, green programs we can check out, we’d love to hear from you.

I don’t know about you, but a greener future just sounds so much better than… well… the alternative of not having a future at all. Only together can we overcome this challenge and make sure that doesn’t come to pass.

Update: As of 10/1/2023 we are now supporting Whatcom Million Trees Project.
