If only we were wizards that could make all of the above true for you. Trust us, we would if we could. What we can do is steer you in the right direction and offer some suggestions to enhance your high using natural methods.
Enhance Your High
If you’re new to cannabis consumption, or an occasional partaker, then you’re probably set with a single bowl filled with your favorite flower or one gummy. Individuals with a little more experience or are regular users, might need a bit more product to feel the same effects. Here are some of our favorite methods to enhance your high.
Cannabinoids
Cannabinoids, like THC and CBD, are natural compounds found in the cannabis plant and are partially responsible for the psychoactive effects. Back in August, we introduced you to CBG, CBN, and CBC. Using products rich with THC coupled with CBG, CBN, and CBC might mitigate some of the adverse effects associated with excessive consumption like anxiety and paranoia. CBD specifically, contains anti-inflammatory properties which help promote relaxation and physical comfort.
Foods
Remember when we introduced you to terpenes back in 2016? And then again in 2020? Well, we’re still singing their praises at the tops of our lungs. Knowing the different kinds of terpenes, their effects, and the foods that contain them will give you all the information you need for the high you’re looking for. By eating the following foods 45 min before partaking – whether you’re smoking flower, eating gummies, or taking a dab – you’ll be able to enhance and control your elevation.
Mangoes
Mangoes hit the terpene lottery as they are rich in myrcene. Myrcene is known for its euphoric, relaxing, and damn-near-giddy effects.
Broccoli
As if you needed another reason to eat your vegetables! Broccoli is loaded with beta-caryophyllene known for providing that in-da-couch, super comfy relaxation.
Chocolate
It’s no secret that chocolate is amazing. Not only is it incredibly tasty, it also contains anandamide. Derived from the Sanskrit word “ananda” meaning bliss, anandamide has a calming, blissful effect. We’re talking so calming it’ll give Sir David Attenborough’s narration a run for its money.
Tea
Black and green teas contain a compound called catechin. A recent study theorizes that consuming catechin-rich foods can help with the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease. When paired with cannabis, catechin can help eliminate stress and produce a stronger sense of peacefulness and tranquility.
Anything Fatty
When consuming edibles, eat it with something high in healthy fats – like peanut butter, avocados, or nuts and seeds. The science behind this match made in a dispensary has to do with cannabis’ love affair with fat; cannabinoids need fat molecules to attach to so they are absorbed into the bloodstream faster and more fully. We bet your high will thrive.
T-Break
If you’re just not feeling the same effects that you’re used to, try taking a tolerance break (T-break). There are many different ways to safely take a tolerance break to make it more comfortable. We’ve heard from hardcore stoners who took a T-break and came back to find that edibles hit them hard when they previously had no effect.
Anecdotes
While the following recommendations may not be scientifically backed, they are tried and true methods from some of our customers who SWEAR they will enhance your high. Take them at face value, but if they work for you, let us know!
“Stare at the stars. Look at the moon.”
“Spark a bonfire or wood stove and zone out on the flame.”
“Hit a hot spring in the buck.”
“Bump Cypress Hill.”
“Smoke a bowl, lay on your back, find shapes in the clouds.”
“Make a pillow and blanket fort, smoke a J, listen to Pink Floyd.”
Enhancing your cannabis high with natural methods isn’t just about chasing a buzz – it’s about crafting a personalized experience that feels right and resonates with you. It’s important when trying any natural method to enhance your high to start slow and take notes! And remember, what works for some, might not work for others. Don’t get discouraged, try try again!
