Protect Your Peace, Power Your Voice

By trovecannabis | | Community, Products, Tips

Let’s be real here. There’s a lot going on in the world right now. For many people, that means big feelings.

Stress.

Frustration.

Helplessness.

Burnout.

All completely valid feelings. At Trove, we’re not here to tell you what to think or where to stand. But we are here to remind you of a few simple things.

  • You don’t have to do everything.
  • You don’t have to do nothing.
  • You just have to find what feels right for you.

Protecting Your Energy

Before anything else, take care of your mental space.

That might look like:

  • Taking a break from the news cycle.
  • Logging off social media for a bit.
  • Going for a walk, smoking a doob, and focusing on what’s around you.
  • Choosing calm over constant input.

Staying informed matters, but so does staying well

One of the most powerful things you can do is protect your peace.

Small Actions Count

When you’re ready and feel the urge to do something, that something doesn’t have to be huge. Micro actions still count.

Here are a few low-pressure ways to show up:

Redirect your Munchie Budget

Skip one snack run or DoorDash order and donate that $20 to a cause you really care about. Don’t have a favorite? Use a charity vetting tool like CharityNavigator.Org and search for causes that interest you. For example: “animals”, “clean water”, “Bellingham”. “Cannabis”, etc. You’re bound to find something that appeals to you.

Use Your Voice

Send an email to a local politician. Sign a petition. Make a quick call. Even a few minutes can make an impact.

Shop with Intention

Supporting what matters to you doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it looks like where you shop and who you choose to support.

At Trove, we get our jollies by supporting Trees for the Future. For every ounce of flower we sell, they plant a tree. It’s a small action that adds up. (It gives us warm fuzzies every time.)

And we’re not the only ones doing good. We carry a lineup of brands that give back to causes close to their hearts:

  • Falcanna: Falconry and raptor rehabilitation
  • Slo Gro: Sloth conservation
  • Blazy Susan: Suicide prevention, breast cancer support, The Last Prisoner Project, 40Tons, One Tree Planted.
  • Soulshine Cannabis: Emerald City Pet Rescue
  • Walden Cannabis: National Lawyers Guild, BLM, wildlife relief, and community drives.
  • Cormorant: Marine animal and ecosystem services (10% of profits donated!)Wyld: Stop Soldier Suicide, Brands for Public Lands

Craft Time

If protesting isn’t your jam, try your hand at making signs for window displays or for people who march. You don’t have to get fancy. No glitter or glue sticks required. Just express your thoughts on cardboard and distribute to your friends and family who share your beliefs.

Be High and Helpful

Let’s normalize something: using cannabis doesn’t make your voice or actions any less impactful. Forget any outdated stereotypes that only slackers use cannabis and are too ripped to give a shit. Some of the most powerful actions have been performed by cannabis users.

Mary Jane Rathbun

Affectionately known as “Brownie Mary”, Rathbun was a medical cannabis activist and AIDS caregiver in San Francisco. Her cannabis-infused brownies were touted to have eased wasting syndrome in thousands of AIDS patients. (We seriously recommend looking her up, she was a bad ass!)

Carl Sagan

Even renowned astronomer Carl Sagan once wrote about how cannabis helped him slow down, think more deeply, and see the world with greater clarity. His works remind us that sometimes stepping back is part of showing up.

Don’t Over Do It

Some days showing up looks like action. Other days it looks like:

  • Getting enough rest so your brain and body optimally function.
  • Knowing when to check out of a situation that overwhelms you.
  • Protecting your mental health.

Your Way Is The Right Way

Whether you:

  • Speak out
  • Give back
  • Stay informed
  • Protest
  • Vote
  • Take a step back

…it all counts. The goal isn’t to do everything. It’s to do something that feels right to you. That little something could have a big impact, so keep it up and encourage others to do the same.

You don’t have to carry the weight of the world. But you can carry your values with intention, in your own way, at your own pace. And if a little cannabis helps you stay grounded while doing that? That’s your balance.
