State law loophole endangers new pot business

A loophole in state law is threatening a brand new Bellingham cannabis retailer before they even
open.

A neighboring pot shop had just opened an arcade.

As it happens, existing cannabis retails like Cascade Herb Company, are allowed.

But new pot shops, like trove cannabis right next door, can’t open within a thousand feet of anyplace
that could attract children.

Trove co-owner yin-ho-lai told king-5 news this kind of loophole could put them out of business.

Yin-Ho-Lai thinks the arcade is just a way to keep new competition from setting up shop nearby.

The city is allowing trove to stay open until they can look at the law more closely.
