Famous Stoners and Their Accomplishments

By trovecannabis | | Cannabis Info, Education

Most people don’t immediately think of pot smokers as being go-getters. There has been a long standing stereotype against cannabis users that they are lazy or unmotivated. Since legalization, stoners are able to come forward with their reefing habits and squash the mind set that smoking weed somehow impedes their hard work. If you start looking around, there are some big names out there who aren’t shy about their love for bud and are living proof that it won’t slow you down.

Here are 10 incredibly successful stoners and their accomplishments:

Morgan Freeman (Net Worth: $250 million)

An accomplished actor with an iconic voice, Morgan Freeman has won an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. He has 133 film credits and openly discusses his love for smoking weed.

Seth Rogen ($80 million)

Seth Rogen is a comedian, actor, writer, director, and producer who gained his success from unrelenting hard work. He began as a stand up comedian at just 16 years old and landed his first tv show at 17. Since then he has had a hand in close to 200 titles. Most of his films have revolved around the topic of getting high.

Dave Chappelle ($50 million)

Long time comedian, actor, and writer, Dave Chapelle has many awards and nominations under his belt. He has received three consecutive Grammy Awards for Best Comedy Album, four Emmy Awards, and the prestigious Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. From stand up, to movies, to the wildly popular Chapelle Show series, Dave has become a legend all while being blatantly high.

Paul McCartney ($1.2 billion)

This singer-songwriter is one of the greatest musicians in music history. His list of accomplishments deserve an article of their own. To name a few, the former Beatle has 9 Grammys with his ex-band, but also an impressive 18 Grammys that he earned solo. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (twice!) and was knighted by The Queen of England herself. He holds the record for the most number one hits and was awarded the Gershwin Award by President Obama. McCartney has been a  pot smoker for most of his adult life it seems. He has been busted at least 5 times by authorities for possession of cannabis over the years. This trail of weed crumbs shows that McCartney was a weed enthusiast until he openly admitted to quitting at 69 years old.

Rihanna ($600 million)

One of the most famous contemporary pop stars, Rihanna has not only won 9 Grammy Awards but has also proven herself in entrepreneurship. She launched her cosmetics brand Fenty Beauty which revolutionized makeup by pushing industry standards to offer a more diverse shade range. With Fenty Beauty’s incredible success, she then launched Savage X Fenty, a lingerie company that challenged the industry’s inclusivity. Rihanna has been forthcoming of her love for herb for most of her career. Through music, social media, album covers, and fashion statements, she has done everything from smoke blunts on camera to wearing giant pot leaves on her chest.

Snoop Dogg ($150 million)

One of the most famous rappers alive, Snoop Dogg has been a staple in the music industry and when it comes to smoking pot, Snoop is a heavy hitter. His albums have become iconic and his unique laid back style boosted the success of a genre. To this day, it would be a bold claim to say you could outsmoke the Dogg.

Maher has been a long time advocate for cannabis and its legality. As for his own personal use, he has been quoted, “I’ve always been a very moderate user. I’m a two or three times a week smoker, a lightweight. My priority is work -the writing process- and that’s what I save it for.” As an award winning writer, I’d say he should keep up this stoney ritual.

Michael Phelps ($80 million)

Widely regarded as one of the most accomplished athletes of all time, Phelps holds the record for the most Olympic medals won by an athlete at just 28 years old. He has 23 gold medals 3 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal. Almost as famous as his accomplishments, Phelps is also famous for getting busted smoking a bong on camera at a private gathering.
