The evolution of strains

Your favorite strains and how they came to be

Do you have a favorite strain? Maybe it’s Sour Diesel, OG Kush, or Jack Herer! Do you know where they came from or how they were developed? We’ll assume you didn’t, because that’s what today’s blog is all about. Check it!

SOUR DIESEL

Known for its distinctive gasoline scent and uplifting high, Sour Diesel is a favorite to many. It hasn’t always been called Sour Diesel, though. According to High Times, Sour Diesel is believed to have originated on the East Coast in the ’90s as just “diesel.” They say that because of its extreme popularity, it coined the name Sour Diesel for the relationships that it would ruin. This friendship ruining strain is apparently an accidental cross between Chem Dog and Super Skunk, Skunk #1, or Northern Lights.

If you’re a fan of Sour D, we think you’ll also love Stone Age’s Safety Meeting Infused Pre-Roll! You know, for those walks you take for… safety. Gelato x Sour Diesel x Tangie x Zkittlez.

OG KUSH

Is it even possible to be more original than OG Kush? This OG strain traces its roots all the way to exotic Northern California in the early ’90s. According to Leafly, OG Kush was first cultivated in Florida after a Northern Californian strain was crossed with Chemdawg, Lemon Thai and a Hindu Kush plant from Amsterdam. It’s most likely due to the fact that because OG Kush originated on the West Coast, its considered the back bone to many West Coast strains like Bubba Kush, GSC, and Headband.

If you’re a fan of OG Kush, we think you’ll also love Walden’s Flame Tongue! A calming Indica-dominant strain that has a rich history of lineage including OG Kush, Fire Alien, Strawberry, and Sour Bubble.

JACK HERER

Brought to market in the ’90s as a medical grade strain, Jack Herer hails from the Netherlands! It’s namesake comes from the cannabis activist and author of The Emperor Wears No Clothes. People love Jack Herer for its clear-headed, uplifting, and energetic high.

If you’re a fan of Jack Herer, we think you’ll also love My Sunshine Blend Cartridge from Raven! For bringing sunshine wherever you go, Jack Herer x Gilda blend to bring a socially stimulating, euphoric spark that’s best for roaming, exploring, and motivating you into motion, with added benefits of CBD.
